FAQ

TIMELESS STUDIO PHOTOSHOOTS

Where will the photoshoot take place?

Our classic fine-art inspired studio photoshoots take place at my small home studio in Winnersh, conveniently located between Reading and Wokingham and just minutes from the A329 just off junction 10 of the M4.

What kind of photos will you take?

I’ll do a mix of portraits, groups and different combinations of the group being photographed, and get a mix of posed, more formal, portraits with the right bit of guidance on what you need to do and also try to capture some of the natural, in between moments too to capture as much personality as possible.

My studio shoots are a great, confidence-building experience for kids and adults alike and I’ll go with the flow on the day and give your kids as much time and patience as they need so that we get the all important connection from them for the photos. You might be surprised at how much they end up enjoying the experience.

How do I book a shoot?

As these sessions take place just at the bottom of my garden, I don’t currently charge a session fee for them. Drop me a message or use my easy online booking calendar where you can see all my availability and request a day and time that works for you, without having to email back and forth too many times. My calendar is kept up to date each day and I’ll confirm your photoshoot as soon as I can.

What should we wear?

My favourite question! Obviously, it’s your shoot and I want you all to be comfortable. I would say though, that these photos are going to stay in your family forever and what looks good and in fashion now, may not look so great in years to come (neon, colour-changing t-shirts anyone?!). So, with that in mind, I really strongly recommend going for something classic and timeless. No big logos or thin stripes that make your eyes go funny when you see them back on camera, smart is better.

For the guys, bow ties, braces, blazers, smart shirts and trousers can all look great (t-shirts probably aren’t ideal for these shoots) and for the girls nice dresses (not too shiny as may not look too good under the lights) and flowers/ accessories in the hair are good. For ladies of all sizes, I suggest fitted tops are flattering but rules are made to be broken so if you have a favourite outfit feel free to bring it along. Bring a few options and feel free to send over photos if you’re looking for a second opinion.

Wear colours that complement each other, without matching everyone in exactly the same outfits. Put all your outfits together before the shoot and look at how they look as a whole.

The styling in a shoot can make all the difference, so you’ll be glad you made the effort.

When can we see our photos?

Sometimes, I’ll have time left to show you your photos straight away for you to make your selections. Other times, I’ll invite you back to my home studio in Winnersh around a week after your photo session or maybe even put together an online gallery for you if you prefer.

You’re all welcome to come and see your special portraits, including the kids, but I suggest that all decision makers are present too as this will be your chance to make your selections and order large prints for your walls.

What are my print display options?

You’ll get professional, archival quality 9x8” fine art prints, and I’ll also show you my beautiful wall art samples and guide you through what will look good in your home too.

I’ve searched far and wide and carefully chosen my most favourite suppliers in the country to showcase your gorgeous photos. Prices start at £199 and clients often spend from £199 up to £800 for wall art to decorate their homes for years to come.

How much does it cost and when do I need to pay?

There’s no session fee for these shoots but I do ask that you let me know as far in advance as possible if you’re unable to make it so I can arrange my own childcare as appropriate.

There’s no risk so you only pay for what you love after you’ve seen your beautiful photos.

For £59 each, you’ll get a fine art 9x6” print and the high resolution digital image too. The more images you buy, the more savings you’ll enjoy on additional portraits. My beautiful wall art starts from £199.

We’ll take payment at the viewing and ordering session once you’ve decided on what you love.

What kind of editing do you do?

My studio shoots are inspired by fine-art photography styles and can take more time than the outdoor shoots to get the final, polished look of the end images, which is why they are priced differently to the outdoor shoots. Each studio portrait is worked on individually in detail and close up as these portraits are often printed large for our clients’ walls and we want them to be perfect for you, which can take some time.

I’ll remove temporary blemishes and marks, some stray hairs and creases but I don’t tend to do much editing on the faces of young children as they’re perfect as they are.

Get in touch if your questions aren’t answered above, or book now with my easy online booking calendar and I’ll send over more details shortly.

I aim to get back to you as quickly as I can, but just so you know, I’ve got two small babies too so it can be a bit of a balancing act. Please bear with me if I don’t reply straight away :)
